About the scheme

The council runs a senior citizens' scheme.

This unique scheme is open to all Renfrewshire residents who are over 70. Spouses or partners of those who qualify are automatically eligible for the scheme even if they aren't 70 years old themselves.

The 2008 scheme offers senior citizens the choice of:

• a gift voucher worth £22
• a credit to account (council tax or housing rent) worth £22
• a sail on the 'Waverley' next year including high tea on board using the council gift voucher

The 2008 scheme will operate between 1 April 2008 and 31 March 2009. It is advertised in the local press, all local council offices, libraries, neighbourhood offices and a variety of other outlets including health centres, post offices, bowling clubs, day centres and lunch clubs.
